Collection: FLOS

FLOS - The iconic Italian lighting manufacturer.

For over fifty years Flos have been creating objects of light and shedding brightness on generations of dreams. Made famous by early designs from visionaries such as Gino Sarfatti or Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. Some products from the early days still remain in production today, such as the Arco floor lamp, Taccia table lamp or Taraxacum pendant.

Flos is a company proud of its heritage but is looking to the future by embracing new designers. For instance, recent collaborations between Michael Anastassiades with the IC or String Lights range or Patricia Urquiola with the Tatou have set the standard for contemporary lighting design.

Technological development is also a key focus of Flos. Continuous experimentation, pushing the boundaries of eco-sustainable material selection and also the integration of the latest energy saving LED and OLED systems has resulted in Flos being a world leader in the manufacturer of residential and architectural lighting. See below for the full range of Flos lighting products. If you can’t see what you’re looking for or have any questions then please let us know.

Michael Anastassiades the London-based Greek Cypriot designer is responsible for some of FLOS most current, but timeless designs such as the new classics IC, Coordinates & Copycat. His work can also be found in such institutions such as MoMA & the V&A.

Philippe Starck the prolific & ever versatile French designer has been responsible for some of the most instantly recognisable and striking designs ever created, everything from Yachts to kitchen utensils and coincidently some of FLOS most popular & playful contemporary designs such as KTribe, Rosy Angelis & Bon jour.

Responsible for some of FLOS most iconic designs, Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni created a peerless & timeless body of work. Trained as architects in Italy their playful and sometimes surrealist post-war take on every aspect of design resulted in a body of work which continued to inspire to this day, reflected in the many re-issued of their work to integrate new innovations in materials & design processes, or even just a new colour.

Considered one of the most relevant and important product designers of the past few decades, Jasper Morrisons designs emit a simplicity and elegance without appearing purely functional. His style can be termed 'super normal' reflected in products such as Smithfield and Glo-Ball.

German Designer Konstantin Grcic is responsible for one of FLOS most instantly recognisable contemporary products, Mayday. His Angular and minimalist designs stem from his initial training in cabinet making, moving on later to Industrial Design. His work is often characterised by his analytical approach to product development resulting in a level of refinement and elegance almost unmatched, such as his Noctambule for FLOS.

Spanning a broad spectrum of design including Architecture, product, & industrial design, Antonio Citterio has been creating timeless work influenced by his multidisciplinary mindset.
His most famous work for FLOS is the Kelvin desk lamp introduced in 2003 which has continually moved with the times to incorporate new innovations in lighting technology resulting in a lamp which looks like it was introduced just yesterday. Antonio has been awarded the Compasso d’Oro twice.

Mentored by the great Achille Castiglioni, Patricia Urquiola later completed the circle by becoming a lecturer at a host of prestigious universities, her work is displayed at institutions such as MoMA & Musée des Arts Decoratifs in Paris and she has been awarded the Golden Medal for Merits in Art in her native Spain. Her work for FLOS includes Tatou, Chasen & Serena along with the recent colourful & playful Almendra.
She is one of the most complete designers of our age who continued to inspire with her inspirational and spontaneous designs.

London-based Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby, known as Barber and Osgerby, met whilst studying Architecture at London's Royal College of Art and began their design journey working with wood, before moving onto various sheet materials - always finding innovative ways to work these materials to solve issues such as weight & durability. Their first light for FLOS named Tab perhaps shows a likeness to their earlier sheet work in its form.
Further innovative work for FLOS resulted in the Bellhop range presented in a range of playful colours & abstract forms.

The French due of brothers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec have worked together from a young age to create a range of work covering furniture, objects, Art & thankfully Lighting. Their work for FLOS includes the instantly recognisable AIM & the new ethereal and beautiful Luce Orizzontale, designed with modern ideals of sustainability in mind. Their work is in the permanent collections of MoMA, The Design Museum and all the other usual places and they have won awards such as the Panerai London Design Medal award.
